FAQs for Businesses

How is DoctTalker Family Medicine different from a standard family practice? DocTalker integrates tried-and-true practices with modern telemedicine to become patients' doctors-on-call. The heart of the DocTalker practice is focused on establishing and maintaining a personalized relationship between the doctor and patient. The patient comes first; the patient, not the insurance company, is in control of his or her healthcare.

What can DocTalker do for my company? Our plans can save you and your employees time and money by  offering immediate, quality care, thus keeping your employees healthy and on the job, not home sick or siting in a waiting room.  This access to immediate, quality care is a  unique benefit that can enhance your employee recruitment and retention  efforts without breaking the bank.

How much will DocTalker really cost my company? DocTalker medical plans start for as little as $299 per year per employee -- much less  than a routine trip to the ER or Urgent Care – and give each employee  an hour's worth of time with our medical team, whether by phone, email, or in person. Our fees are transparent, which means we charge exactly what we say we will. Always.

What else does DocTalker offer my company besides great care at affordable prices? Doctalker offers on-site check-ups at your company to get our access to care rolling. We also  provide employee education materials (including on-site presentations),  program collateral, and on-going employee communication, both in print and online.

My company already has a PPO. Why would I need DocTalker? Our plans offer the best and most affordable alternatives for getting your  employees primary care at odd hours (evenings, weekends and holidays). This includes routine health issues and advice or treatment for  emergencies that  always seem to crop up on weekends or late in the evening. Think of the convenience and peace of mind this would mean to your business travelers. Consider the work time saved by being able to address health issues during non-business hours. And imagine the out-of-pocket savings this would mean for your employees in regards to unnecessary ER or Urgent Care visits.

Why is a DocTalker medical plan such a  great benefit for our executive team?  Your  executives are extremely busy and often on the road. They are the very  people that should be at the helm and not out sick or sitting in a  doctor’s waiting room. DocTalker offers  the most responsive care, anytime or anywhere –- whether it’s on travel, at your office, or at a same-day, no-wait office visit.

What makes DocTalker so convenient?  Routine health complaints can be addressed without ever having to leave home – - or the office. If a patient needs to be seen, we offer same-day,  no-wait office visits or even house or workplace calls, as needed.

What are the benefits of a doctor–on-call  for my workforce? Have any other businesses used  this approach to medical care for their employees? A July 29, 2008 article in BusinessWeek says:  “The company doctor is back...in a climate of deepening health-care woes, company-based medical centers are winning dozens of fresh converts.  These include the North American units of Toyota  and Nissan, Harrah’s Entertainment, and Walt Disney…says Hal  Rosentbluth, president of Walgreen’s health and wellness division.  “Companies can take control and understand their health-care costs.”1

What happens if a patient calls and the doctor is on the phone or otherwise busy? If our medical practitioners can’t pick up the phone and answer patient calls immediately, then a practitioner will call back within 30 minutes –- 24  hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Why is DocTalker care of such high quality?  The personalized patient-doctor relationship at DocTalker is the biggest reason for our high level of quality care. In addition, patients receive immediate attention, no matter what time of day or night, thereby getting faster resolution of issues leading to healthier patients. DocTalker solves over 50% of our patients care issues via telemedicine (i.e. phone or email consultations).

How long has DocTalker Family Medicine been around? The  practice was started in 2002 by Dr. Alan Dappen who had headed up  Vienna Family Medicine for 15 years. Dr. Dappen started DocTalker because he wanted to bring the control of healthcare back to the patient. DocTalker was one of seven medical practices invited to Harvard’s Interfaculty  Program’s Primary Care Innovators Roundtable, was named Entrepreneur  of the Year in 2007 by the Vienna Tysons Chamber, and was nominated for  the Fairfax Chamber’s Blue Diamond Award.  DocTalker was featured on ABC’s Good Morning America and was on American Public Media’s The Story.

Is DocTalker Family Medicine related to doctokr? Yes! DocTalker Family Medicine is a subsidiary of doctokr, Inc.
